Updated: Cervus Equipment Announces New Future Service Delivery Model For John Deere Bassano

Amended News Release

Calgary, Alberta (October 2, 2018) – Cervus Equipment has modified its market strategy regarding the Bassano and Brooks, Alberta store consolidation which, was previously announced this year.

Together Cervus Equipment alongside John Deere Canada remain committed and focused on the Bassano area Agri-producer. As such we have taken into consideration feedback provided by local area farmers gathered over the past 2 months.

“We must align our business to meet the needs of our customer base. And our goal is always to provide improved service and support to farmers”. says Doug Pilsner, General Manager – Agriculture South. “Intentional customer feedback over the past 2 months has helped us refine our business strategy moving into the future.”

Cervus is pleased to announce an extended 5-year lease agreement on the current Bassano facility which will carry its current lease until late fall 2024. The Bassano facility will undergo modest improvements in 2019 to allow for additional equipment parts stocking. “In order to help reduce our customer’s operating risk we are using feedback to change the way we view our Parts business. We need to focus proactively on machine population in the area, and work to improve what we have on our shelves.”

The Bassano operation will be Parts and Service focused. And although the current facility doesn’t have the space required to safely operate on some of the larger machinery, customers can expect ongoing shop support as well as road truck deployment out of Bassano. Cervus will be committing a 5-year subsidized hauling rate for larger equipment which may have to be inspected or repaired within a larger shop with overhead crane.

We will be engaging with local schools with an aim to recruit the future Ag Technicians within our industry. “It is imperative that we recruit and develop local talent through Apprenticeship.”

As per the original announcement, Bassano management and administration will be consolidated out of the Brooks, Alberta location. And most of the Used equipment inventory will be migrating to larger trading centres as we centralize our Whole Goods Inventory. “We currently have pockets of equipment spread across numerous locations and we are finding it to be a better experience for customers when we have more equipment selection in one central location.” says Doug Pilsner. “Several ‘in season’ machines will be on hand in Bassano to ensure expedited uptime for our customers”.

Our current focus is on supporting the 2018 harvest and ensuring producers are ready when the weather turns in our favour. After harvest we will be looking to formally engage with producers to answer any questions surrounding this revised announcement and Bassano strategy.

The Bassano dealership is located at Old Highway 1 - Box 1001, Bassano, Alberta T0J 0B0 and can be reached at (403) 641-3813.
