Championing the mental well being of all Canadian producers.
Going beyond providing a support system for producers and farmers in the ag industry, the Do More Ag Foundation focuses on creating awareness and breaking the stigma of mental health in agriculture.
Results from the National Survey of Farmer Mental Health, involving more than 1100 producers from across Canada. Conducted by Dr. Andria Jones-Bitton at the University of Guelph.
The mental, emotional and physical strain that Canadian producers and farmers experience is more than that of the general population, yet it is rarely discussed, and little resources are available specific to the industry. In partnering with Do More Ag, Brandt is providing our communities with the resources and funding to support and strengthen Canadian agriculture.
Mental health can be a difficult topic for people of all walks of life. When thinking of farmers, talking about feelings does not come naturally but Do More Ag is trying to change that. Simply asking someone a question and truly listening could make a world of difference in someone’s life.
In the ag industry, we regularly talk about commodity prices, new technology, or the weather as important factors that affect day-to-day life of a producer, but in reality the most important piece of the puzzle is the people. If our people are struggling, we need to support them, provide any information and resources available to help them through the tough times and be there to celebrate successes.
